The Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Polpetta cigar started as an exclusive, mini production but has now expanded into a full line, marking a unique addition to Steve Saka`s portfolio. The name "Polpetta" is Italian for "Meatball," inspired by Dave Garafalo's annual meatball contest held in New Hampshire, where Steve has participated multiple times. Initially created for the contest, Polpetta became the official 'event-only' cigar during Steve's shop visits, eventually gaining enough success to merit a national release as part of the Dunbarton Portfolio.

Distinctive in its characteristics, the Dunbarton Polpetta features a smaller vitola, measuring 4×48, and stands out as the only 'mixed filler' cigar produced by Saka. Despite being a mixed filler cigar, it deviates from the traditional 'chopped filler' approach. The blend includes a dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper paired with a Mexican San Andres binder. While the fillers are mixed, they are of a specific and consistent blend. Steve explains that Polpetta is not a typical sandwich cigar; it incorporates table cuts along with some long-leaf filler tripa, representing an improved and hybrid style of cigar-making process that he pioneered years ago.

Tasting Notes: The Polpetta opens up with notes of coffee, chocolate, mixed pepper, and mineral notes. The chocolate notes take over very early, but it doesn’t take long for the coffee notes to surface. Meanwhile, the pepper and mineral notes settle in the background. Later in the first third, a citrus note also emerges in the background. As for the retro-hale, a combination of red and white pepper is delivered.
